Be A Driver, Not Just A Number

Most drivers know that they have options when choosing a trucking job, including working at a large, national company or working at a smaller, local one. There are advantages and disadvantages to both size carriers, but Waller Truck focuses on making sure their drivers feel they are a part of the family.

While all companies need to make a profit to keep their drivers employed, many might feel their voice isn’t being heard at extremely large carriers. Nobody likes to feel as though they are just a number in a database and prefer to have a good working relationship with their company and main contact. Waller Truck focuses on the advantages that many large companies cannot offer. We want to highlight some of the advantages Waller Truck has and how we avoid making our drivers feel as though they are simply a number.

What Are Some of The Disadvantages Large Companies Might Have?

There are some that find the big companies are an excellent way to start out with little driving experience. There are some that might begin to see an issue when they first go solo and realize that they didn’t know their driver manager well (or even at all!). You might simply receive a message at any given time and some of those large carriers might even be outsourcing that to overseas companies. That lack of direct communication can often rub drivers the wrong way.

Another issue that can sometimes arrive are with personal life demands. Trying to schedule important things with large companies in advance (i.e. vacations) can be difficult when your point of communication changes regularly. Having that personal relationship with your company can help ensure that they know your scheduling demands even if they are unique.

Waller Truck Company: Offering Small Company Advantages

Waller Truck is a fleet of around 200 Kenworth trucks and tries to avoid those commonplace challenges the extremely large carries have. It may sound a bit corny but carriers like Waller Truck try to focus on the little things like knowing your name and demands that might exist in your personal calendar. It is not unusual for your Driver Manager (DM) to know your family if you go home because your child is sick, and they will likely ask how they are doing later. Many drivers love the idea of calling their carrier and the person answering knowing them by name.

Waller Truck, being a medium-sized carrier, is awarded more flexibility in getting drivers the runs that they want which many larger carriers struggle with. Waller Truck has regional runs, local runs, and plenty of runs in the Midwest. Staying close to home means you get more home time and still make a very decent paycheck.

The critical thing to remember when working at a small company is that they will bend over backward to make sure you get home as often as possible. The DM’s will respect you and the personal demands each driver might have.

Managers That Know Your Desired Runs

It isn’t just important for Waller Truck dispatchers to know your name, but that personal relationship can lend itself to knowing what our drivers prefer for runs. While there is never a guarantee that you will only get the routes you prefer, our personal relationship allows us to at least try our best.

Waller Truck cares about their safety scores, but more than that they care about the driver. We think that every carrier cares about their drivers but helping our drivers out in those unexpected emergencies is where we show it. Some drivers have highlighted that larger companies can be slow to provide that assistance.

Differences At The Terminal

Being at a company that has such a close relationship with its drivers can often mean you see more focus around the drivers’ convenience. It can be get-togethers so that drivers can meet other managers and foster personal relationships. At Waller Truck you will get to know your DM and likely meet other drivers too. You can make friends and maybe even run with others so that you always have a friend on the road.

If you want to feel like you are part of a family go to Waller Truck. You will not be disappointed. You can succeed and make a great living and avoid feeling like you are just a number.
